Hello
Just wondering if some people can answer my questions about the development of games. First of all I'm going to be finishing my GCSE's this year and I'm still not sure what courses to take in college, so I'm here to ask questions.
Could someone list some of the jobs that are needed for the development of games, and what qualifications are required for that job? To put it another way, if i were applying for a job, what would you want from me for that position.
Originally i was thinking of taking Maths, Computing, ICT, and Psychology.
Do i really need ICT? i know the answer is probably yes but i took ICT as one of my GCSE's and have a solid A and i have read in some places that its not needed.
Although i was really looking forward to psychology because i love how the mind works, i am now thinking of switching that for graphics and design and if i dont need ICT i would switch it for psychology. Advice please?
The third option i have is taking a BTEC
Quote: | As you can probably imagine, the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT is an intense course lasting 2 years. It shouldn’t be taken lightly and in order to bag yourself a place on the course you will need at least 5 GCSEs A*-C, including English Language and Maths or a Distinction in a Level 2 BTEC Diploma. Foreign students should contact the admissions office at their local institution to check what the equivalent qualifications are.
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT covers a huge range of units in 2 years so be prepared to work hard. In the first year you will begin by understanding the IT sector by covering units such as programming, creative skills, networking and much more. Each unit is work-related and is designed to give you a full understanding of working in the IT sector. The skills which you will develop are focused on making you employable in the IT industry. The 2nd year is filled with more in depth study and you will also have the chance to pick a specialist path to a career in Networking and Security.
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT gives you everything you need to go on and study for a degree in IT or Networking and Security. It is a great starting point for further study and your career. Its reputation and nationally and internationally recognised qualification make the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT the door to many opportunities. |
Should i take this instead of my A levels? It seems to include everything but if anyone has taken the course could they fill me in with more detail of what i should expect?
